And some ants. Butterflies don't usually show up, in this part of Michigan, until the bigger blooms are open. Right now I have some Grape Hyacinth, a pretty little white flower blooming, and the first of the Daffodils are going to open, probably tomorrow.

Down here in what is laughingly called the "semi-tropical" zone, we Mason bees in March, a sure sign of spring. they are also called "busy bees" because they slowly fly around your chest/head level, as if listening to a conversation. big as the first joint of a adult thumb. and totally non-stinging.

Butterflies are fall insects this far south.

I have my usual attack of bees, wasps, stinkbugs, mosquitoes, ants and I hope that one lonely monarch comes back this year. It has been coming on a solo flight for several years now. I wish they were not disappearing

In January of last year a lady bug landed on my plate.
I took a picture of it and had it framed for them
For luck.

There are ladybugs and there are Asian lady beetles and the lady bugs are the "good" guys, while the Asian lady beetles are not so good. I can't tell from your picture which this is.

Maybe you already knew this fact. I know plenty of my neighbors do not. The Asian lady beetles can be pretty invasive in some years here in Michigan.
