Not to be a killjoy, but this would make me nervous. Those kids are pretty little and those dogs are pretty big.

watching. Certainly, someone who does not really know dogs (nor truly knows the one they have) should do so without someone more experienced advising them. I know dogs and can identify potential problem issues or suspect body language better than I can with many humans. That isn't a given for all people, especially those who were not raised with dogs.

That said, cross-species protection and nurturing is now hard-wired into dogs--especially females after so many millennia living side by side with humans and their livestock and other animals. It is now the exception rather than the rule to have dogs who do not instinctively "take to" the young of their humans--assuming there is a loving relationship between them and not a prior history of maltreatment.

guardians. They are two of the sweetest dogs in the world but I never left them alone with her and always watched carefully. Babies, especially newborns, have erratic motions that can spook even the sweetest, calmest dogs. BTW, that last picture just melts my heart!

She sat besides his crib watching him sleep. When the baby started to stir, she would come looking for a an adult. That son now has an infant of his own with two dogs that watch him while he sleeps.

Babies need a Nana.
