Sad update to the go fund me page I posted here some weeks ago.

I shared a go fund me page on DU for a woman who needed a custom wheelchair. Some very kind DUers donated to the fundraiser and the wheelchair arrived about 10 days ago. Eriko died yesterday and I am feeling heartbroken. She was Japanese by birth and met her American husband when he was stationed with the Marines on Okinawa. By all accounts a very sweet lady who was diagnosed with ALS about 3 years ago. Her family is devastated by the loss but grateful that she is no longer suffering. Her daughter is due in a month with a granddaughter.

I've rolled along that road, so I know (much of) the journey.

The next step would be for the family to find an MDA (Muscular Dystrophy Association) chapter. The MDA arranges to redistribute wheelchairs and other devices to ALS and other muscular dystrophy patients in need.

The GoFundMe campaign was not in vain, but an inspiration for another patient.

I do think the world is full of people willing to help others. The needs are just so overwhelming.
