Debit card fraud again.

Third or fourth time in the last few years.

Why can't they go to the places where the fraud happens and get the security video - they know the exact times of the fraud?

Even after the card is cancelled it can take another 24 hours to stop transactions.

If we can find the source of the scam can we close them down?

Credit cards have better fraud protection than debit cards....so if you can use credit cards instead of debit cards, it will take less time and have less inconvenience.

The ONLY thing I use a debit card for is at a bank's ATM, not one of those little rinky-dink ones you see in restaurants or casinos. Those ATM's have security cameras, and bank personnel checking constantly for skimmers.

That was taken from an online merchant, a store running your card through the machine. All the stolen card data is bundled and sold on the internet. Mine was stolen at Home Depot. That happened to be the only place I used the debit card as I was waiting for a new credit card to come in that had been shut down for the same reason.

The banks don't care, they let Visa or MasterCard or some insurance company pay them back.

My banks fraud detection is pretty good. I have had them call and ask me if I was in France. They were holding a charge on my card and they knew I did not travel far from home. That is why most banks have a place on their web site to let them know if you will be traveling.
