It's got a voice actor doing a monotonously, sing song patter:
In 4/4 time::
DAda DAda DAda DA...
DAda DAda DAda DA... (repeat repeat repeat)
Presumably listing a popourri of things that can be put on the card, with simplistic rhymes. I think Madonna, Lada Gaga, and somebody I don't know have used this gimmick lately, or maybe long in my historical ignorance of current culture.
As in many commercials, until it becomes so annoying that I pay attention, I don't even know what product they are pushing.

(28,394 posts)shows some sky-jumpers and the sound goes "uh --- uh----- uh----uh" over and over. I don't even know what it's selling. I just can't stand the audio.
I know the Discover ad you are referring to... it rattles off the names of a bunch of food/ dishes that sort of rhyme. I can't stand it either. I turn it off as soon as I hear it.

That mayhem guy is SO creepy!!

(5,604 posts)Its hard to make insurance commercials interesting. But then again, I rarely watch tv so to me nothing really gets too repetitive.

(27,247 posts)But among the ones I have seen recently, the most annoying by far are the ones for pharmaceuticals that come with 30 seconds of disclaimers that make the "cures" sound worse than the "diseases" they are supposed to treat.

(5,849 posts)I usually make sure to mute commercials, but one time I didn't, and I could not believe that sundry list of side effects for the drug being advertised !
I have since listened to other pharmaceutical ads, and they follow the same pattern. What you see, of course, is the active, smiling, happy people.
I'm not bashing pharmaceuticals. I take a few myself (and I will soon be off of them -yay), but I'm wondering if the general public needs to see advertisements for them.
Also, it seems that a few years later, you start to see ads from prescription drug injury lawyers.

And fashionable tampon commercials. I just needed the damn thing to work. I don't care if it's pearlized purple or whatever.
