Live out in the country, but not far enough...
Its been nearly constant gun shooting and fireworks for the past two days. Somebody's been blaring Hank Williams jr all damned day.
Me and the animals are holed up like it's purge night...😬😕
I think I'm going to drink myself to sleep tonight.
Edit to add a photo of Buddy and Cinder in my spot...

(10,749 posts)Are convinced they are under attack. Not happy. Cats seem fine with it.

(22,048 posts)We're in New York City and it's hot and sticky and gross. Who needs to fight the crowds to watch the fireworks downtown?
I've got my book, DU, music and a good single-malt. Happy Fourth!

(22,797 posts)Fireworks courtesy of my idiot neighbor which have the dogs terrified and have been going on since 9 o' clock. I hope he doesn't set my barn on fire. They're that close. I guess I should be thankful he can't shoot his long gun and fireworks at the same time. I want to call the sherif but they probably won't be sympathetic to me and the noise ordinance stops at the intersection. He must have stocked up this year. Last year they only lasted fifteen minutes.

(11,345 posts)I'm pretty sure I'm surrounded by meth heads, which means this will likely go on all night.
We will get through this night!

(22,797 posts)I'm hoping that he doesn't pull that out, once he runs out of fireworks.

(34,137 posts)And reduces the chance of fires starting. The fools still set off a few fireworks, but have stopped now. Every year I hope one of them will blow a finger or two off. I'm evil that way.
Hug Buddy and Cinder for me - very cute buddies!

(205,974 posts)I had just pulled into the side street that connects to mine when a huge pink and green explosion happened right over my car! I screamed and swore, but was going slow enough that I stayed on the road. Idiots! We often see fireworks displays above the mountain/ski area not far away, but I live in a residential area and this was way too big an explosion to set off on a residential street. That house occasionally plays loud music in the wee hours when they're entertaining, I'm guessing.
At least my dog isn't bothered by them - but my previous dog used to freak right out. I'd take him to work with me on July 4th since he couldn't hear them from there, it was pretty soundproof.

(35,619 posts)...were allowed, and that was enforced, so people sitting in their houses wouldnt have to listen (unless they lived near a professional fireworks show.)
