The DU Lounge

hell more like 20 or 25 years! but it has been 2 years that I have not been able to fully straighten my left leg. so, while the right knee is the original "bad" one, the one that was injured by two Labradors slamming into me sideways at a pool party 20+ years ago - it is the left one that is getting repaired first. surgery is at 9 tomorrow morning.
I tend to be pretty science-oriented but just to cover all the bases, I am requesting a few patented Lounge vibes if anybody has some to spare.

(102,294 posts)I know you are trying to listen to your brain that tells you this is routine surgery and all will be fine, yet your stomach is likely fluttering while you try to push negative thoughts away. I know I went through that years back with ankle surgery. Deep breathing and maybe bring your favorite relaxing music with you on your phone to listen to on the way and while you wait. It really does help. (and listen to your brain)

(5,403 posts)I had a dog slam into my left leg, at speed, and at a 90 degree angle as well.
The pain! Wife made me drive my manual afterwards too, so much for empathy. No, the tears didn't help.
Came good without surgery though. All the best for your 'fix-it-while-I-sleep' session though. Sympathetic vibes sent your way.
Hopefully you will get a lot of therapy sessions with a pretty nurse afterwards. And flowers. And icecream.

(55,014 posts)I want to reply individually, but it has been a long hot day trying to get the house ready for me and a walker whenever I get back (could be as early as Friday!) and I have to go do the first antibacterial shower and get some sleep. If all goes well, I should be posting tomorrow evening since I can't stay away. LOL
Oh and of course, the little dog is going to be ready tomorrow too! Husband will have to go on Thursday to get her though. No way to swing it tomorrow.
see you tomorrow or Thursday

(55,014 posts)Whew, made it through. Woke up in recovery in quite some "discomfort" feeling like there would be no way I could go through it again for the other leg, but after a couple of hours it just turned into rough pain. I think I'm going to be okay but right now I'm enjoying my morphine pump so I can barely concentrate on anything. Thanks so much everyone - DU can really "be best" sometimes especially the Lounge. Talk to you later.
