It's weird what memories anniversaries of historic events like Apollo 11 trigger.

July 16, 1969, the day of liftoff, my 101 year old grandfather died. 3 days later, on the 19th, my mother left my father and took us four kids west to BC. 50 years ago tomorrow, the anniversary of the landing, I watched Armstrong walk on the moon on a 12" black and white TV in a motel manager's office in Thunder Bay, Ontario.
