(1,639 posts). . . It's one of my few marketable skills.
Benedict Cumberbatch starred in the BBC series, "Sherlock". (He was also the disturbingly white Khan Noonien Singh in the second installment of the "Star Trek" reboot movie series.)
Because his name is a mouthfull, many people, including myself, mess up his name. I had to look it up on another tab before attempting to write this.
I usually refer to him as "Benedict Cumberbund". But I have occasionally used, "Cabbagepatch" and I am sure that someone, somewhere has used, "Cucumber."
If this little exegesis clears things up, I am glad. If not, I would be happy to go on (and on). I know that there is a Russian novel buried somewhere in my soul.
redwitch
(14,950 posts)I eagerly await your novel!
Collimator
(1,639 posts)Do you suppose Tolstoy ever wrote a novel in 101 degree heat?
redwitch
(14,950 posts)I think he drank lots of ice cold vodka in heat like this.

(1,639 posts)I'd wrap it in a thin towel and use it to cradle my head.
BTW, I really shouldn't complain. I am actually in an air-conditioned house. But my weather read out said it was 101 a little while ago, and humidity is hovering around 50%.
My heart goes out to those without the needed resources for dealing with this. And my head aches with the thought of all the fools denying climate change.
Someday, the Orange Anus's grandchildren will be cursing his name.

(6,272 posts)as I said before: "D-uhhh!!!"

(1,639 posts)I often miss some of those clever little meme/jokes. Sometimes I just don't have the pop-culture knowledge to get the reference.
Remember how happy Captain America was when he got the flying monkeys comment in the first "Avengers" movie? That was because the movie came out before he went to war. But all sorts of other things passed him by while he was frozen. That's how I feel sometimes.

(1,827 posts)They had some fun with it:
Quaint heartthrob Bodysnatch Cummerbund this week announced his engagement to theatre director Sophie Hunter, to the mass upset of millions of his enamoured viewers.
Buffalo Custardbath, 38, is best known as the lead role in hit BBC series Sherlock, and has also had prominent roles in 12 Years A Slave, War Horse, Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, and voices the dragon Smaug in The Hobbit trilogy.
Formidable acting repertoire aside, Bumblesnufl Crimpysnitchs fame is largely attributed to his dashing persona and his unusual name. We look forward to Mr & Mrs Cabbagewanks wedding.

(1,639 posts)That was adorable. It was nice of you to share.

By the way SCE, thank you for helping me keep my sanity. Or at least finding it again. All day yesterday I was convinced that it was Sunday. I woke up this morning thinking today was Saturday. And then I saw LOLcats, and realized that Sunday is actually here.
