(2,963 posts)Trouble is, my girlfriend & I were not supposed to leave the Army base. We took her mother's car & went to a bar about 25 miles away.
Going home we hit a deer & totaled the car. My Dad was on duty at the police station & got the call from the sheriff. Oh boy, did we get in trouble. Her poor Mom was a single mother raising two kids on one salary. She was not happy. 😟
All these many years later (50+) I would love to hook up with crazy Stephanie. I've googled her for years, but have not been able to find her.

(23,018 posts)When I was in college in rural Ohio, I was returning to campus with my girlfriend at the time. We had just eaten dinner with my parents. It was dark. I was driving a Dodge 600. We were following a pickup truck with a double axel. I saw a large multi-pointed stag jump out in front of the pickup. In a blink of an eye, the front end of the truck actually lifted up and I remember watching the deer get caught in that double axel and rotate all the way around until it was ejected out of the back of the truck and high into the air. Even though the truck and I had slammed on our brakes, we still had forward momentum and that deer flew over my car to land with a thud several feet behind us all the while laying down a shower of gore all over my car.
The pickup and I immediately pulled over. It was a husband and wife in the truck and the husband was driving. I was immediately sick to my stomach and both my girlfriend and the mans wife were hysterical. It took a very long time to calm everyone down. There was serious damage to the truck and beyond the incredible mess on my car, mine was relatively undamaged. This was before cell phones were readily in use so I drove the couple to the nearest house where they could call for assistance. My girlfriend cried all night long and that is a night that I will never forget.

(28,086 posts)on his way to work (and in the suburbs).
I have to send him this. (Now that he has the new vehicle and some of the sting has worn off.)
in a suburb of Kansas City and have a wooded area behind my house and across the street from our house. Deer regularly go through our yard grazing as they make their way across the street. I cant tell you how many times Ive had to call the city and ask them to come pick up a deceased deer and always it seems in front of our house and not my neighbors house.
