(17,984 posts)Electricity seems unGodlike in every way. Did Moses have access to electricity when his lights went out? No! He was in the dark. Did Jesus use electric light? No! But granted that his lily white skin radiated enough light to read by.

(13,871 posts)that due to nutrition and living conditions at that time a typical adult male in Palestine was about 5'2", had dark skin, dark oily hair and most likely had lice and skin blemishes. They also would have had very bad teeth, and probably not a full set. So, the guy pictured above must have just gotten back from the spa.

(794 posts)It is amusing that the "Amish" eschew electricity because of a fetish about the horse--nearer my god to thee, or something. They are not opposed to gas power, however. There is a whole industry that makes gas-fired pumps, milking machines, lamps--all allowed as long as its does not involve electricity, and maintains horse culture.
Must be that James Clerk Maxwell, father/codifier of electro-magnetism, did something to annoy these überChristians and horses.
