(4,919 posts)... Kitten claws are so sharp, and I always am afraid the dog will get its eye scratched.
Is this a baseless fear of mine?

(16,296 posts)One should never hand/finger play with a kitten - use a toy. As they grow older, kittens turn into cats and view your hand/fingers as something worthy of their attention; often with some bad results.

(4,138 posts)It's pretty amusing. The dog always wants to play with the kittens, but I think he basically thinks they are just tiny dogs. So he''l nip and nudge at the smaller one, and she'll swipe at him and wrap around his snout in response. It was pretty alarming at first to watch this 70 pound dog snapping at a 2 pound cat, but he's pretty careful and gentle about it.
The other kitten originally wanted nothing to do with him, but now that the dog figured out that he doesn't want to roughhouse, is warming up to him. They'll sit and look out the window together, or lie down next to each other in the hall.
