A group of American tourists failed to recognise the Queen after they met her walking on her Scottish estate. The 93-year-old monarch had been out for a stroll in the grounds of Balmoral Castle in Aberdeenshire, Scotland, accompanied by protection officer Richard Griffin. She was dressed in tweeds and wearing a headscarf when she came across the group of tourists.
Unaware of who she was they struck up a conversation and asked her if she lived in the area to which she replied that she did indeed have a house nearby. They went on to question whether she had ever met the Queen herself.
Not wanting to reveal who she enjoyed a private joke as she gestured towards Mr Griffin and said: 'No but this policeman has.'
Mr Griffin has worked closely with the royal family for more than 30 years.
Speaking to the Times, he said that the group moved on after a short while and remained oblivious to her true identity.

Seriously, though, you can see the clothing is obviously very expensive.

(26,268 posts)She's certainly dressed appropriately for both her age and her activity. 93 and still strolling the grounds is, IMHO, pretty impressive.

(17,931 posts)you can dress any damn way you like and don't have to give two shits what anyone else thinks. At 93, she's earned the right. I'm looking forward to that myself as I careen towards 60, since in my mind worrying about what to wear is such a complete waste of time.

Epstein and Ball (and Van der Post and Savile for that matter) were both paedophiles ( in the broader sense in which that word is now used).

(12,586 posts)For a 93 year old woman who still gets around on her own and also is the Queen of England she looks fantastic.
She also has a great sense of humor, as when she photobombed at Commonwealth Games:
Not surprisingly, it's suspected she was a fan of HBO's "Game of Thrones," even visiting the set once.
I have admired the Queen ever since I saw pictures of her as a teen serving as a mechanic during WWII:
Can we go back to having her as our monarch until Fat Donnie is gone?

(7,358 posts)In the Aberdeen area of Scotland during summer it reaches temps of about 60 normally, if not a little higher I suspect particularly this July. It's chilly at night and you'll need a jacket or nice sweater to stay comfortable. If you lived there for a year or so you'd find that mid 60s is very comfortable, and could feel quite warm. The rest of the year it's very cold and more rainy and cloudy. Winds can be fierce as well.
