i have a canon mg3600. i just tried replacing the empty ink cartridge with FOUR new ones and the damn printer won't recognize ANY OF THEM!
i buy the recycled cartridges at office depot (they're cheaper and they're recycled)
this crap has happened before but this is f*cking ridiculous!
anyway, does anyone have any suggestions for a fairly inexpensive printer that takes fairly inexpensive ink?
in a perfect world i wouldn't use/need a printer, but i have to have one for my job
anyone who loves their printer or is knowledgeable about this -- your input is greatly appreciated

(118,642 posts)of your new one you switch it out for one of the recycled cardrige of the right color in less than a minute. There is computer code that comes with the new cartridges but is lost on the recycled ones. If you switch them really quick you can trick your printer into thinking it still has the proper code. Try replacing a recycled cartridge with a recycled one in one minute too and the proper code may still be there. Told to me by someone at a recycled printer ink cartridge kiosk years ago. It worked for me.

(20,868 posts)I just connected a HP Envy 4500.
It works on Windows 7 fully, Windows 10 to print (no scan).
I think you can buy one specific to Windows 10.
They are inexpensive and I've had great luck with mine.

(12,412 posts)Sign up for ink program and never think about ink problems again. WiFi let's me print from my phone also in public access stations. HP monitors usage rolls unused pages over and sends ink when you need it.

(6,805 posts)with a sale and some discounts it was only 100.00. So far so good. A little strange the way scanning is done with your phone and the HP app.

(9,729 posts)It scans, copies, and prints in color and black and white. *knock wood* I've had no difficulties at all with it. I print several hundred pages a month (I'm retired, but I'm compiling a rather monumental family history for future generations' use). I haven't tried recycled cartridges, but I do send my used ones for recycling.
I wish you good luck... I have had PLENTY of printer problems back when I was working.

Think about these personal criteria. I did and switched to b/w multifunction Brother printer that is small office quality for around $400. Laser drums last a long time for me.
I also only print when I really need to, trying to PDF things or read things online.
Different strokes for different folks!

(25,853 posts)I currently have an HP 4520, which cost me about $50. It replaces an earlier HP whatever, that stopped working after about 4 months. This one has been good long enough that I've bought replacement cartridges for it.
Really, buy whatever is on sale at your favorite store (I'm partial to Best Buy myself) and go with it.
