I picked up a discarded empty box to use for shipping; it wasn't light but I figured there were packing materials inside. I got it home, opened it, and found that it was somebody's Amazon return from back in June. The label had come off, but the inside printout had the barcode and description.
I just called Amazon customer service and asked the person what to do with it. She said that since it was three months old, I should just donate the item to charity. I said but wouldn't the sender have had to pay for the item since it never arrived? She said to just donate it.
But who, besides a narrow target group, is going to want a...

So after the next day passed I contacted them
they apologized and said they would overnight another to the person .
Next evening the person had 2 of the gift arrive so I contacted them again
and they said the person should keep both and a double happy birthday to them and apologized again for the original not arriving on time
I think their volume is high enough to absorb costs , would take more effort for them to process the return plus they do not want bad customer reviews
The few times an item went missing they sent another express
All their customer service help has been prompt and courteous and they never acted like they did not believe me
Maybe its been racial or just poor service clerks but I had a lot of trouble in the past with in store shopping , not just returns and will continue to use amazon now that they carry so much I need. Its very hassle free and sorry but I really dont believe many of the storefronts pay their clerks well either, maybe less, and dont need attitude as the customer

(4,646 posts)For instance... If I say I picked up a bald man but when he got in the car he removed a rubber scalp to expose a full head of hair, the story would be weaker if I said I picked up an apparently bald man; you'd already know a twist was coming.

(31,316 posts)building. Twice now I have found dollar bills on the ground there when walking my dog early in the morning or late at night.
It is fun to find lost money. I have a whole jar full of coins I've found over the years when walking the dog. Even the pennies add up. Every once in a while I raid the jar to buy something fun. Ice cream is good over the summer.
Never considered getting a replacement swing canopy cover. In beige.

(4,646 posts)I think it's because fewer people use cash now, including me. I like your ice cream idea. 🍦🍦🍦
