Thank you...
I actually had that portrait made privately around six months after I ETS'd. I didn't like any of my official military portraits. So it was nice to have a chance to tell the photographer "Yeah, I like it." or "No, I don't." It helped that the photographer was my roommate at the time.

(20,212 posts)I didn't make it yet, but trying my damnedest. [You so sweet.]
My other half dropped dead in March early in the a.m. Cardiac arrest. I'm experiencing delayed grief and it's sucking. Some on here were apprised soon after, and I am doing my best to refrain from reiterating.
Had a last few particularly bad days. I'm running the gamut of emotions. I don't believe I will avail myself of any 'grief' counseling groups. I'm industrial strength DIYer. I simply can't handle all physical chores, straightening out financial account errors, you name it what is coming down the pike at me.
What is the meaning of life? To be and do. And '42'?
Forgive me for laying this on you. 😔
Aristus
(66,281 posts)I can't even imagine the pain you must be going through.
42 as the Ultimate Answer to the Ultimate Question of Life, The Universe, and Everything is a joke from the landmark science-fiction comedy "The Hitchhiker's Guide to The Galaxy" by Douglas Adams.

DU is one sustaining something that keeps me propped up.
Aristus
(66,281 posts)DU has kept me going, through good times and bad, since 2001.
I joined a week after 9/11/2001, having lurked since May or so of that year.
I can barely remember what life was like before then.
The 90's seem like an idyllic dream...

(20,212 posts)Then '03 my mom had medical emergency and we got her up with us. I read, but couldn't post much. I signed on with a screen name other than this one. Left that behind and cooked up another. I could've signed in again with admin assist but was too lazy.
I can't recall how I found DU, but thankful I did. Brothers and sisters in humanity of like mind and of one accord. It saved me and continues to.

Like Julius Caesar, I want a sudden death.
If it has to be a prolonged death, let it be in my bed, surrounded by my loved ones, at a very advanced age...

Now for my question. In all of your educational endeavors, which course meant the most to you? Egads that I'm asking you to think on a Friday night after you consumed libations.
