(21,841 posts)the woman who runs this cam is in Australia. She was talking about how they do not allow TNR there -- it's illegal. (Trap, Neuter, Return). They consider it abandoning an animal. Australia wants to cull the feral cat population. There's not a lot of support over there for this kind of work. She thinks Candy is a good candidate for becoming socialized. So far she is letting the human touch the kitties, so that is a good sign.
*back to watching Candy and her pretty kitties* bye

(128,487 posts)and saw the details about this cat -a street cat- although she seemed pretty docile given the circumstances. Both my sisters have or have had cats (one was a himmy and the other a tortie and I have cat sat both) and they were reticent about too much handling, so agree that this is pretty amazing that this one hasn't attempted to hide. Makes me wonder if despite her being found and labeled as a "street cat", that she might have been abandoned (but at a very young age) or had at least been cared for like one might do an "outside cat", so she is more accommodating (to a degree) with humans.

(128,487 posts)The one thing that stands out aside from the exhaustion she exudes and obvious burden of a pregnancy, was that she wasn't scrawny or banged up, so it seems she was managing to get fed by someone or many someones (maybe from staff at a restaurant, etc). There is a stray in my neighborhood who is huge (not sure if its a male or female) and it is obviously being fed and I have seen it chase after small dogs and follow people to their doors. You could tell that someone was at least feeding it and it hasn't appeared to have run into any raccoons (who are competing for food in the same areas).
