(4,341 posts)I am also an artist and I know how difficult it is to sell ones work.
I do have to admit that everything I have done I have given as presents, I do portraits, but I have been in the artist circles where I live and I know how hard it is for artists to market their work, and sell it. I have never tried to sell my work, I usually paint friends and family without them knowing it, then I surprise them with the finish painting. I have done many, but never crossed my mind to sell them, maybe I should start doing that.
There is a great book I read and recommend if you are going to continue selling your work, "Living the Artist's Life" by Paul Dorrell.

It is full of tips on how to market your work and sell it.
I saw your paintings, very good, keep it up, you definitely have your own style that gives it its unique personality, which in my book, it is required to set yourself apart from everyone else.

(1,639 posts)I sold two prints of a small painting I had done and I felt the way Meryl Streep described winning an Oscar.
Very happy for you.
