Whats the appeal of Ansel Elgort?

I see Ansel Elgort has done another movie that has flopped big
time at the Boxoffice.

He does seem to be massively popular.

I know he is extremely good looking, even by Hollywood standards.

But to me, that writer from vanity fair (I think) gets it right, when
she said "He has the easy going charm of someone who's been told
they're always right"

For myself, there has to be a certain charisma and charm, and not just
looks for an actor.

So what am I missing with this guy?

The main guy.

Really smooth looking guy, but for me comes across as unlikeable, theres no
real charm there, apart from his looks.

Even when his movies flop, movie critics still say he did a good job.

I'm old. When I look at the magazine covers in the grocery store checkout line I don't recognize anybody.

but, after googling him, had the immediate thought that he could play Kushner when they make the movie of the fall of the Chump crime family.

If he's had four films that are complete bombs, I probably never saw them.

As an aside note, I do Geeks Who Drink a couple of times a week. I'm incredibly good at general knowledge or science/math things, but most of the questions revolve around pop culture. Alas, at my advanced age (71) I'm not very good at those.

One round is always a musical round, and I have a standing joke with a team mate who is about four years older, that until they do a musical round that is all Kingston Trio, there's no point in even paying attention to that round.

Honestly, about once every two or three times I will recognize one song that's being played. Sigh. They need to hire people over the age of 60 to help write the questions.

Oh, don't get me wrong. I very much enjoy Geeks Who Drink and I frequently applaud the hive mind. I play with a somewhat changing group, and there are some who know the music, some who know other pop culture I don't. I shine at certain science and math questions, although there are not enough of those in my opinion.

If you've never done Geeks Who Drink, check it out. It is giant fun.

Are you suggesting that every other actor is much more charming and charismatic? He is young, he is good looking. A lot more so than many other actors.

This feminist writer called him "The Biggest Douche in Hollywood"

Not sure word for word, but apparently he told the interviewer that, my lifes great,
I can have supermodels around to my house and they dont mind just watching
me play Call of duty for hours, then I give them great sex, and send them away in the morning.
