WAPO highlights: What happened to each of Michael Vick's 47 dogs

Before this incident, arguably many of these dogs would have been automatically euthanized, especially the Pitbulls. This nice detailed summary inarguably shows how wrong such policies were and fortunately paved the way to a better understanding of what can happen--even with dogs rescued from horrific maltreatment. From the article: “While Michael Vick [was] a deplorable person in a lot of ways, the fact that he was the one that got caught was a really a big boom for this whole topic and for these animals,” Best Friends co-founder Francis Battista said. “It just catapulted it into the public eye.”

A second chance
Twelve years ago, 47 dogs were rescued from Michael Vick’s dogfighting operation and allowed to live. They've enriched the lives of countless humans and altered the course of animal welfare.
