The DU Lounge
Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsI saw the new movie Downton Abbey tonight.
I don't know why my theater had it available a day early.
It was good to see all of the characters. Story was okay, nothing too complicated.

(63,221 posts)I loved the series. I am kind of a sucker for period pieces. The costumes, decor, etc. Everything about that time period seems so romantic, although I suppose if we were ever forced to live like that we would find it very constricting and unpleasant.

I wish some of the social manners were still in vogue, though. I think they helped set boundaries.

Should bring Abby the corgi dog, named after the Abbey.

(28,254 posts)Anybody else remember the dinner for King George that the "Upstairs Downstairs" crowd put on, back in the 70's? Great series, great dinner (the dinner was offered at several restaurants in the country; wish I'd had the cash to partake).
