I loved the series. I am kind of a sucker for period pieces. The costumes, decor, etc. Everything about that time period seems so romantic, although I suppose if we were ever forced to live like that we would find it very constricting and unpleasant.

is "progress" for a reason.

I wish some of the social manners were still in vogue, though. I think they helped set boundaries.

But that is not the first thing I think of when I think of that age. I think that age was when women were finally liberated from corsets.

It is just comforting background while I'm doing other things, frankly. And John Lunn, who scored Downton Abbey (and many other British programs) is really a wonderful composer.

We're going either Sunday or Monday. Escapism, plus popcorn with some old dear friends, is a nice way to spend a few hours.

Should bring Abby the corgi dog, named after the Abbey.

Anybody else remember the dinner for King George that the "Upstairs Downstairs" crowd put on, back in the 70's? Great series, great dinner (the dinner was offered at several restaurants in the country; wish I'd had the cash to partake).
