I'm so glad they will be safe and protected for the rest of their lives.

(203,041 posts)I really love horses, grew up riding, but it's been awhile. I went to summer camp in Vermont where riding was the main activity (besides swimming) and last month I was invited to visit a "sister" camp for the day and got to spend some time with the horses. They have a very cool program there where a camper can "adopt" a horse for the summer, groom the horse, take him/her for walks, etc. I would have loved that! But there was this one handsome horse there that inexplicably no one had "adopted!" I have no idea why, so I spent the most time with him - his name was Fernando.

(9,595 posts)Everyone needs love, whether we have a tail or not.
I never really got to know much about horses. I went to a stable a few times and rode a few horses, but I never had the time to really get to know them. Now I'm old and creaky and I have arthritis, and it would be really stupid to get on a horse at this point in my life!
I know I missed out. But I'm glad there are a lot of people out there who love these magnificent animals and take care of them.
