might have been an interview around this movie. i remember this clip.
he was asked if he practiced every day, and he said he didnt really. he said it was more important to live a life worth making art about.
not a recipe for making money, but def one for making art.

Helen Mirren is his lost love.

There was actually an international incident like this.... godunov defected here, and his wife was stuck because she wanted to go back.

He and Barishnikov were in ballet school together.

In 1986 I was in NYC for the 4th of July staying with friends of my then girlfriend...

Gregory Hines lived in the "penthouse" of the same building and invited everyone in the building to a party on the roof so we could watch the fireworks... biggest fireworks I've ever seen (before or since). 1986 was the celebration of the re-opening of the Statue of Liberty and there was a large "tall ships" parade.

Gregory was very cool about having all of his neighbors and their guests to his impromptu party on the rooftop.

Oh, the friends we were staying with worked on the 90th floor of WTC1 (I think it was 1)... and were still working there in 2001, or so I heard.

We walked around the park for several miles, then went for a bumpy car ride. (All to get me in labor) Nothing worked.

Got home. I sneezed and my water broke. I then watched the reruns of the NYC festivities on TV
