It talked about how strong their social needs are and how being deprived of proper company can cause them to tear out their own feathers. I guess that it is like some people cutting themselves.

Glad to see him properly bonded and I hope all his feathers come back.

All of those can start the feather plucking. Further, they may become depressed or hostile.

I had a similar problem with a foster dog who'd been abandoned and who knows what other hell he'd been through. I eventually decided to adopt him myself because he was a biter and I thought he'd end up on death row at the pound. I've worked with him, like she did the parrot. Slowly, building trust, being gentle, singing him songs, and rewards - this dog is very food motivated. He rarely bites now and likes to snuggle.

It takes patience and Chicken Man has a wonderful mom to help him recover.
