Question: Pursuing a job opportunity - trying to get to the second interview & beyond

I'm in the midst of pursuing a job. It's in Toronto and it's in news.
All my experience is here on the States, but from what I understand, my experience can go a long way back home.
I've had 1 interview and am in the process of waiting to see if I make it to the next round. I really want this.

In light of the Eaton Centre shooting Saturday(http://www.democraticunderground.com/1014134679)
I`ve been writing up a list of folo`s on the story. Basically what I, as a journalist want to know.
So here's my question.
Do I take my notes and questions and send an email to the people I am interviewing with in order to show what I would do in this situation?

They were supposed to call for 2nd interviews earlier last week.
I hadn't heard from them, so on Thursday, so I sent a very brief note saying I was still interested and was just checking in.
I got a reply shortly after that saying that it had been a very busy week and they were behind but that they appreciated my checking in and that they would be calling on Friday.
By around 3pm Friday I had not been called, but did recieve an email from the person I had been dealing with saying that they still didn't have an answer and that they were still working on it.
