...Head and face trim, but not a total shave.

As a man who uses a “no guide” trimmer over my entire head and face, I have no sympathy for this fellow.

mountain man, complete with mutton chops? I do not get it. I can never get past thinking what might be infesting that nasty nest.

Personally, I'm not a fan of full beards, and certainly not in a medical clinic. But he keeps it very well-groomed. It's shining clean all the time, and he uses a beard comb on it several times a day. I tell him he looks like a Viking more and more all the time. (And despite what TV and movies would have you think, the Vikings were spectacularly well-groomed.)

I'd imagine there might be a little gender-based resentment. Frankly, I don't find that excessive type of beard, no matter how clean, to be readily justified in a health care setting. Most labs would make women pull their long hair back as well. I just hope he's not doing any DNA testing/sample collections.

It's rather curious that of all members of the primate group, humans are the only ones whose hair and men's beards will grow and just keep growing without limits pretty much. What environmental factor caused that gene expression? Cold ass weather for most of those in northern latitudes? Okay, but the women don't grow beards or not enough to benefit from. Most humans from Africa and much of the tropics have nowhere near as much facial hair, that's true

OK, maybe sexual display/attraction right? But right here in this thread and in real life, we see a lot of evidence that most women don't exactly swoon over unlimited hair growth in men. There again, most men do or at less don't reject women's long hair.

I've heard theories, of course, but something about those I've heard just doesn't quite ring true with me.

Which is a lot to type and expect people to read this early in the AM. Sorry, lol...

with a scaggly, nasty beard. I don't know any women who find them attractive. The ZZ Top look went out in the 80's.
