The "taterguy exception" to the rule.

This came up in Meta and I hadn't ever heard of it before. The way I understand it, one can get away with saying things like "Fuck You!" to others and not be alerted on if it's understood that the "taterguy"exception" is being applied. Meaning that the insult is being made in jest and both parties understand it to be made in fun.

Kind of cool a Lounge regular has a (unofficial) rule named in his honor!

For those who don't go to Meta, the above is an example of the really important stuff that's talked about there.

1. Actually, the exception refers specifically to calling someone "dumbass".

I invented it - here is the post that started it: http://www.democraticunderground.com/?com=view_post&forum=1240&pid=38419

I even won a DUzy for it: http://www.democraticunderground.com/1002266546

It is my one claim to DU immortality, and I WILL take credit for it!

Thanks for the clarification. I certainly remember that it was you who started it! (you have an easy name to remember - LOL!)

Literally, I mean.

I might have seen it figuratively on occasion, although it may have been just a bit of cheek...

17. True. The only times I have ever set foot in the Lounge have been totally by accident.

Which is precisely how I ended up here this time, too.

I shall now go to my grave regretting what I missed...

Donald Rumsfeld is giving the president his daily briefing. He concludes by saying: "Yesterday, 3 Brazilian soldiers were killed."

"OH NO!" the President exclaims. "That's terrible!"

His staff sits stunned at this display of emotion, nervously watching as the President sits, head in hands.

Finally, the President looks up and asks, "How many is a brazillion?"
