In 1975, the F-15 "Streak Eagle", a stock production jet with all non-essential gear stripped off, shot to 30,000m (98,425 feet) in 2 minutes, 27.8 seconds - which still stands today. And broke a few more on the way.

You know what's even better? That soundtrack. Our grandfathers had better style than we do today. They knew how to live after WW2 and Korea.
