Milwaukee in the Winter?

Any Milwaukee-ites here who wouldn't mind a few suggestions of things to do/see in your area next week?

My son has his firs Co-Op job in Milwaukee, so he is moving there for 6 months (from Ohio) I am helping him move, so we are loading up his car to drive out tomorrow!
Wish us luck! and suggestions would be great, he is socially awkward, so I hope he can find some interests there.

sleeping bag for each person, extra blankets, and survival gear like snow boots in his car for winter travel, a breakdown in sub zero temps when the engine won't run will kill you, and hiking out in tennis shoes means amputations.

We just had our first 2 inches of snow for this season. The high will be 44 tomorrow. Climate change has made the weather rather unpredictable here, as in many places. Do tell him to find out about the opposite side parking ordinance in the city of Milwaukee if he will have a car. And as to the fine Milwaukee beer scene described below, he should be aware that the drinking age in Wisconsin is 21, same as Ohio.

In good weather go to Wisconsin Dells
Camp at Devils Lake
Find a friend fromLake Geneva
Visit Madison, La Crosse, Eau Claire and
Door County.
There are cool Amish Stores
Go to a Packer, Badger football, Badger HockeyBadger BB or Brewer games
Go Fishing. We like the Fox and Wis Rivers
Bring a Kayak or canoe or bicycle.
Buy cheese
Tailgate
Eat Brats
Visit lots of breweries. New Glarus comes to mind.
Lots of vineyards too.

Thank you.

He loves to fish, so we will definitely add the pole and tackle box to the trunk.
and I think Milwaukee is colder and snowier than (columbus) Ohio, but I have never been there.

There are numerous great restaurants on Lake Michigan.

The Milwaukee Public Museum is terrific and has wonderful exhibits. Here's their website:

Personal factoid: My maternal great-grandfather had one of the first automobiles in Milwaukee and it used to be exhibited there; I haven't visited the museum in over ten years so I don't know if it's still on display.

The Milwaukee Art Museum is also worth a visit:

The Milwaukee Symphony is a world-class orchestra:

By the way, the beer is delicious, plentiful and very cheap! There are countless establishments to sample the local brews.

Enjoy Wisconsin. I'm a cheesehead since I was born outside of Madison. The cheeses are fabulous and the Friday Night Fish Fries are a terrific value and delicious meal. Pro tip: Your son should become a Packers fan and a Brewers fan!

Happy New Year!

I have heard good things about the MAM, hope to visit for sure.

Packers and Brewers, perfect! Luckily he's not a Browns/Cavs/Bengals fan.
