Surgeon submitted surgery request today and wants to operate as soon as possible, hoping next week. At least two or three days in hospital, he said it depends on how things go since this is the 4th repair. Excited to know I'll finally feel better after dealing with this for so long, but hospitals trigger my PTSD, they'll give me Ativan again to help me with that issue. I have small squiggly veins, so they'll use an ultrasound machine to find a proper vein like they did the other day for the CT scan. Less poking and less blown veins. Yippee! Everyone I've talked to that's familiar with this surgeon, plus my primary, has said this is the number one guy for this procedure. I really like the Doc, and he knew my father-in-law, which automatically made me feel more at ease. Gonna be golden!

(11,770 posts)as it did a couple of weeks ago, but without the wrap, I have to use my hand to press the hernia back in just to walk. So yep, I'm hoping the approval comes very quickly because this pain is horrible.

(11,770 posts)some problems with the mesh repair a while back, but confident they have that worked out and it will be smooth sailing. Just another scar to add to my collection.

(37,342 posts)and he advised me to stop watching TV at 2 in the morning. I've had meshes in two places for at least 15 years. Apparently there are several different types.

(11,770 posts)After a car accident in 2006 (I was crushed in the cab of a pickup, driver was killed), I spent 5 months in hospital, mostly in and out of medical induced coma and ccu. Spine fracture, neck fracture, (I've had back surgery 5 times and two rebuilds, two bone grafts from my left hip, now have rods/plates and fused from L2 into pelvis, spinal mrsa), collapsed lungs, ARDS, head trauma, internal injuries, small bowel removal, incisional hernias, appendectomy, too many direct line scars to count (they kept blowing), my tummy looks like a funky road map of scars and my back and hip too, allergic reaction to lidocaine during an intubation and went into anaphylactic shock- coma for three days, resuscitated twice, other procedures that I'm not quite sure about, my son kept a diary, but I've never read it.
2007, spinal mrsa recurred and in hospital for 4 months with spine surgeries, two months without an L2 while they treated the mrsa
more complications and allergic reactions. So this surgery coming up will be a cake walk as long as my body doesn't do anything stupid. lol On the bright side, all my blood tests in the last 10 years have come back negative for mrsa, so that is a huge relief!
Probably way more than you wanted to know, sorry. But, now you know why the reluctance on my part.
Thanks so much for the well wishes.
