Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsAny Steve Roach fans here? I saw him in concert last night.
Wow!
Mind. Blown.
It was an amazing experience! Just one guy on stage with mounds of equipment took me on a journey into inner and outer worlds.
It really was trippy yet thoughtful and beautiful.
If you like ambient/tech/world/trance music, you do not want to miss him!
He's been nominated for a Grammy twice, but hasn't won. Can't imagine why!

(7,027 posts)I don't recall when, but I attended with members of Majale, and Vir Unis. I think it was in Milwaukee.

(7,027 posts)The internet and politics has derailed me. I used to play/practice a few hours a day. But I 'm reduced to a few hours a month. Shame on me.
By brother is a classically trained guitarist with a masters from Northwestern. Undergrad at DePaul.
He is teaching now and does classical gigs.

What an amazing guy!
For the demonstration he did a lot of playing and composing, so it was like a concert with detailed notes and explanation.
He went through and explained all his equipment (most went over my head) and how he uses it for recording and performance.
For his live performances he does everything by hand and composes, records, and loops on the spot based on how he's feeling and how the audience is responding.
Last night's performance ran long (we were told it would be 90 minutes and he played two hours) because he said he felt the energy and he kept being inspired by new ideas and just went with it.
Golly, now I'm wishing I'd bought more of his CDs last night after the concert. He wasn't selling them today.
He was selling his whole catalog (which is huge) for $10 a disc.
I'm kicking myself...but fortunately he has a website....

Organization is a little helter-skelter on their site so youll need to scroll through his catalog to find the deep discounts but there looks to be a bumper crop of deals available. Projekt Records is a one-man show that has been working with Steve Roach and his collaborators forever, and the number of discs available is amazing.
