I can't manage to be in 2 countries at once, and yet Greenpeace thinks I've been cloned twice

My job sometime has scheduling conflicts, such as colleagues in (for example) both Zürich and Paris asking me to see them on the same day. A compromise is always found, somehow.

I just got my weekly package of mail from Dallas yesterday. Much (as in 80%) of it consists of "please give us money!" letters. Sometimes, it's candidates for some office or other, sometimes it's even solicitations from Republicans (I guess they don't have access to voter registration--oops, yes they do, they're just eyeing my Dallas zip code and making inaccurate assumptions).

But usually it's organizations, both legit and scams, asking for money. Sometimes, even if it's an organization I regularly contribute to, such as Greenpeace, Doctors Without Borders, etc., I STILL get requests for money even after contributing. Each of their donors has a unique number, so I check. Sure enough, they think there's three of me. These people pass around names of willing contributors, with no regard to how annoying that is, or taking into account that my net worth is less than that of Bill Gates or Warren Buffett. If your address gets passed around often enough, some organizations will receive it, and log it in as a new address even if you are already on their rolls. Never mind that they have it from two other sources already. I HATE that they are wasting resources by sending out contribution solicitations by mail to the same person two or three times, where they could be saving expense money and using it for their cause. Sometimes you get a return envelope, postage paid, with the note "your first class stamp will help us dedicate more to our cause!" I have a hint for them--making sure individual people only get ONE letter instead of three will save you even more!

I give to NAACP, SPLC, UUs and Democratic Org. Not much like $50/year, but I'll never have to write my return address on a letter again in my life time. None of those orgs send them to me.

They might go out and apprehend three guys with my name just to be sure they got the right one.
