Before he became our governor, I talked to Jared Polis at a dinner. He shook my hand and it HURT! I know it was my arthritis, and he was just giving me a firm handshake, and i do hate limp handshakes.
I try to avoid them altogether.

(11,661 posts)Ive been thinking about cultural differences in greetings. In Japan, people bow to each other and rarely shake hands. In Thailand, people greet each other with the wai and rarely touch. In Chile, its a big hug and a faux kiss on each cheek. I wonder if thats going to change.
