The DU Lounge
Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsI've gone from bingeing TV shows to rationing them.
It's not like I'm ever going to burn through all the content in the streaming universe. So I'm not going to run out of shows to watch.
Mrs. Aristus and I are just enjoying watching a show one episode a day. We're watching the new 'War Of The Worlds' right now, and as good as it is, and intense as each episode ending is, we're resisting hopping right to the next one.
Anyone else doing this?

(9,651 posts)Wait till you get to the very last episode. Not saying a word. The entire show was a wonderful ride. Enjoy!

(9,952 posts)then proceed the rest of the story. I do not care about spoilers. But thanks. I am enjoying and I kept passing it up over and over and over. 7 seasons to binge, lol.

(8,445 posts)I binge-watched Ozark, and then decided that I wasn't going to start any more series. Once I start, I just keep going. I'm ridiculous.

(34,136 posts)That's only happened a couple of times.
I had a problem this past weekend - several of the series I've been watching ran out of episodes! I've had to hunt for other series to watch. Since the on screen menu sucks for that, I went to the websites for the streaming services and picked out a batch of shows for my new "season."
A caution with stringing them out - sometimes the streaming services drop series with no warning. I was watching "The Closer" on Prime when suddenly it went from free to $2.99 an episode. Since I had about three seasons left, that would get expensive. Rather than do that, I bought the entire series and that of Major Crimes on DVD. Unfortunately I did binge both series and finished them quickly - but I can watch them again any time I like.

(9,651 posts)If I could watch TV 16 hours a day, it would still take me a few weeks to get through it. I seem to have developed the attention span of a gnat. It's taking me forever to watch anything. Mostly, I'm being distracted by my phone, and a certain website.

(130,956 posts)if I could, but don't have Netflix @ my house, so 'just' watching news and whatever's on HBO; West Side Story a while ago.
I don't watch TV at all until after PBSNewsHour; before that, I watch the river running past my house, and ospreys making this year's family.

(66,381 posts)It hurts too much for her to watch it, with all that's going on right now.
I told her The West Wing got me through the GWB administration. Yeah, it kind of hurts, seeing all that we aspired to and have lost.
But I hope we'll get it back again...

(130,956 posts)but rarely travel there now, even tho only 70 miles away.
They'll move it to HBO-Something, I understand, so may watch it then.
Doesn't hurt or pain me to watch, it's great entertainment. Sure helped me through bushies, and lived and worked IN DC at the time, so was VERY close.

(66,381 posts)I never get tired of it.
One of the greatest joys in my life is getting to use West Wing quotes in my daily life.
One of my assistants will say something like: "We're having a great day! Not too busy!"
I respond like Toby: "Do you want to risk the wrath of the whatever from high atop the thing???"

(42,862 posts)We ration the things we love and enjoy. Well... the NEW stuff, we ration. The old stuff like MASH on Hulu and "Keeping up Appearances" on BritBox, I'll binge watch (just because there are so many of them).
