Car repairs today

I was going to sit in my daughter's drive the other day, close to her kids, but not going in her house. They are old enough to be on their own for short times, and I think this isolation will accelerate my demise as a baby sitter. On this day, I went out to go and my Prius was dead. I figured that the 12 volt battery needed to be replaced. My husband replaced it in 2015, so it did last a long time. I did drag a charger and extension cord out and I am proud to say I got it charged enough to start, but it didn't hold a charge. I didn't get to my daughter's, but I did give one of the kids a spelling test over the phone.

I made some calls, but since it was Good Friday, had no luck. I did find out it might be a challenge to find a battery which would fit a Prius that age. I tried again yesterday. We've worked with the local dealership several times. They had a battery, and were able to take it yesterday or today. I called AAA and they were here the fastest ever and got it towed to the shop yesterday. I was right about the battery, and asked if they could do an oil change while they had it in there. The mechanic also suggested replacing the serpentine belt and the air filter. I know it is a good idea to replace the serpentine belt at this mileage, so I told him to go ahead. I think the Prius will last me awhile longer after this work. It is a good reliable car, and since it is the last one my husband bought, I have mixed feelings about giving it up when I have to.

So nice to talk to people!
