The admins used to have that number to show that the poster had more than 1000 posts. Now, they've returned to showing the actual post count.

A lot of people saw the 1000+ as a sign that the poster was no longer a n00b...

So this is way better than a +1, or +10, or even +100.

At the end of the year, you can total up the number of + x# of comments you got throughout the year and submit to the administrators for a chance to win valuable prizes.
