on the 1000th post, and actually because now your husband can maybe get an even better job? Can't hurt to be optimistic right?

Good luck to you both. I've been there and it sucks for awhile and then things get a LOT better.

But nowadays there are many more posts of people getting jobs than losing them. Hopefully his unemployment status will be short lived and he'll find something he likes better.

I've been through the layoff scene. Fortunately I was hired very soon after though.

Everyone remembers reaching their 1000th post. But DU used to not keep counting. Now they do and that's pretty cool.

He was there for twelve years. The past month and a half he was working late every night, not coming home until nine or ten at night. He was a key person there. The layoffs were strictly based on pay grade. He made too much, which really wasn't much at all. It's hard to believe they could get rid of such a knowledgeable, hard worker. His team was in shock as well. He was their mentor.
Big corporations really suck.
When he met with HR, they kept saying how he could apply for another position in the company. They kept repeating that. We wonder now if this whole thing is to rehire the higher earners at a lower wage, and restart the date of hire, which affects future severance for future layoffs.
The funny thing is....he really didn't make all that much.
