Today I've had a huge hankering for the pancakes from the Old Spanish Sugar Mill pancake house at DeLeon Springs State Park in Florida. Think it was because I had a dream about the park last night.

(102,378 posts)I'm not giving in--sorry fast-food restaurants. Eating "healthy" (fast, & cheap) is too important to me right now. But, that doesn't mean I don't crave it.

(4,399 posts)I love the waffles - Cinnamon Oats - my favorite when I stir in the frozen wild blueberries
Of course, everything is better with crispy bacon!

(7,440 posts)I've got me a 2 lb bag of frozen blueberries.
I used a ratio of 1 to 2 (berries to dry batter) which came out pretty good.
That bag will last me a year, so that's a win win!

(9,275 posts)My favorite place closed. Hopefully not permanently. Going to try another place (that does pay-ahead and curbside pickup) tomorrow night.

(43,198 posts)We could order take-out, but the wife has been pretty adamant about only cooking at home for the time being.
Sucks because every other TV show I watch they seem to be chowing down on Chinese.

(63,221 posts)I have a favorite place - I'm kind of picky about my Chinese food. Unlike some other cuisines, bad Chinese food can be really bad. I'm going to have to rely on ratings, but there have definitely been some places that I have ordered from where I have had to throw most of it out it was so bad.
It also tends to be expensive, so it's kind of a gamble.
If I put the time in, I can make pretty decent Chinese dishes myself, but it ends up being even more expensive to make it, however it turns out better and I know exactly what goes into it.
I'm kind of looking forward to being able to go shopping in a store again so I can pick my own ingredients. I have a Chinese friend who also picks up great Chinese vegetables for me when she goes shopping and they are pretty inexpensive (BokChoy, Chinese broccoli, Napa cabbage, straw mushrooms, fresh ginger, various sauces and spices). I am really craving it lately though.

It is called Birch Benders Organic pancake mix, Classic flavor.
It was on sale for $3.99 at the store so I bought some to try it.
If you like pancakes you must try it!

(23,158 posts)Our Sushi restaurant closed because they couldn't get their supplies and I really miss them. They always used only the most fresh ingredients and would modify any roll however you wanted. They were awesome and I miss their food, including the owners who were really nice people.

(12,265 posts)We try to visit the east coast a couple of times a year to get our fix. There is a nice restaurant in OKC that has decent seafood when we can't get out east.

I do miss sitting down at a restaurant once in a while. I
am actually learning to cook a little.

(153,193 posts)I went to go pick it up and tipped the guy who brought it to my car - the food is just as good but I really miss the sit down at their place with a good book, one of my favorite simple pleasures
I gave up trying to cook, I hate it, takes much time and ingredients; I have long lived on processed foods and fruit. Very healthy though!

(31,405 posts)Yes, I could buy it when I go to the store, but my grocery store runs have been limited to once every 2-3 weeks since early March. Since I'm trying to lose weight, why take up the space in the cart with ice cream? I live in a high rise apartment and use a collapsible cart to load all the grocery bags from my car and wheel them in from the parking garage.
So, yes. Ice cream!

(95,255 posts)And the buffet at a longstanding Indian restaurant we often went to, which may never reopen, judging by a City paper on the window. We weren't trying to go there when we saw it, it is near a grocery that is near the bank....

(115,862 posts)I can get some delivered but I'd rather not deal with deliveries any more than I have to. There are some particular things I used to order at a couple of restaurants that I really loved and miss a lot. Fresh, hot churros with chocolate sauce and cinnamon ice cream! I shouldn't be eating that anyhow but it sure was tasty.

I'm certainly not above day trips to other places just for food. Amish in Sarasota, steak in Tampa, diner in Jacksonville, Columbia restaurant in several places...it's a nice way to spend a day.

(2,584 posts)Cherry crunch, apple crunch, chocolate satin. Oh, my. I have had groceries delivered the last two times that I stocked up. Before that I had to venture out to the local WinCo I shop at, because grocery delivery from several local stores was so backed up that I couldn't even get to the check out screen. I would try again, except that I read an article that said three employees at WinCo have tested positive for the virus, an employee at my nearest Fred Meyer tested positive, one employee at my nearest Whole Foods tested positive, and a Whole Foods employee who worked in a store across town died from the virus. I didn't feel ok about adding bulky frozen pie boxes to my large grocery order, so, no pie. The store was even out of stock on frozen pie crust. Guess I should not whine. At least I am still alive.

(14,276 posts)I have been on an extremely low sodium diet for years and the only thing that has made that and weight control bearable has been things I can only find at those stores and nowhere else for recipes and snacks. Neither place does curb side pick up or delivers to my town.
The only thing I can do is to eat whatever alternatives I can find and run the risk of high blood pressure returning. I am craving foods that work for me. The ones I have access to are monotonous and not cutting it.
