Tonight I will be seeing Stanley Clarke and George Duke

at a local jazz club. Life doesn't get much better than that.

I was expecting a lot of funk jazz which I don't really enjoy. It turned out to be a total acoustic show where he played all standards. Wonderful show. Enjoy!

Stan played acoustic for at least a third of the set; he and George duetted on a purely acoustic "Autumn Leaves" that was just jaw-dropping, and funk/jazz classics were well-represented. It was quite something to see one of my all-time bass heroes from six feet away. There are lots of great bassists but there is only ONE Stanley Clarke.
