He replaced Ryan Vikedal who left the band last year. The band is currently on tour and Andrew Neff of the Bangor Daily News recently spoke with Adair. He had this to say about how he started drumming:

... Adair, who first started practicing with drums when he was 13 after listening to his sister's copy of the Hemispheres album by Canadian supergroup Rush and finding himself transfixed by the ability and sound of Rush's drummer.

"Neil Peart of Rush was the reason I wanted to learn to play drums," he said. "I'll never play like him, but I've wanted to learn all I can and practice as much as I can to be as good as I can be." ...

Man, here I am floating on a cloud of musical bliss thanks to the new Rush album, and then I read this. My spirits are low in the depths of despair.

Don't sweat it. Neil has influenced so many drummers that there has to be some that are in bands that suck. And by the way, Clockwork Angels is one of their best albums ever. Brilliant!

he apologized to the world, saying that if he had any idea that his work was helping Nickelback, he would have gone back to work in his father's auto parts store years ago.

I told him that he was so innovative and spontaneous that he reminded me of Neil Peart.
.

.
He actually teared up and said it was the nicest thing anyone had ever said about his drumming.
.
.
.
He used to do these AMAZING 2-3 minute solos on nothing but a little 8" cymbal that would bring
the crowd ROARING to its feet!!!
