(21,481 posts)figured out as a kitten that if she held her paw at the correct angle and used her claws, she could slide open my jewelry box drawers that hold earrings. Fortunately, now that she is 4 years old, she has mellowed and lost interest in collecting jewelry. But for several months, I used to be missing half of a pair or sometimes a full pair of earrings until I found them stashed in a shoe or boot, or under a throw rug.
She also does a good job of catching things mid air with one claw (cloth toys), or both paws clasped together (pipe cleaners).

(115,719 posts)There's one feeder/toy that's a little weighted thing you put kibble in, and there's a hole in it so the cat has to swat it to make a bit of food come out. One of the cats almost immediately figured out that if he turned the thing on its side and rolled it, he could get almost all the food out right away.

(21,481 posts)one bit of food at a time. She had watched me fill it so she gave it a hard swat that knocked the lid off. She does that with margarine tubs, too. If I am careless enough to leave one on the counter, she knocks it to the floor so that the lid pops off, then helps herself.
