Cats drive me crazy.

So this morning one of my cats disappeared, apparently through a wormhole into another dimension. I looked for her for hours and hours. She couldn't have gotten outside because I hadn't opened any doors and even if I had, I'd have seen her if she'd slipped out (she sometimes darts out but immediately scurries back inside). None of the screens were dislodged. She wasn't in any of the expected closets, drawers, cabinets or cubbyholes. I called and called and shook a package of her treats and she didn't appear. I was starting to panic and freak out especially because one of my three cats died suddenly less than two weeks ago; another was just diagnosed with cancer, and now the third had vanished without a trace.

I was about to start putting out a notice on Nextdoor and Petfinder on the off chance that she had snuck out, but first I tried one more thing: I crouched down and looked under the bed for the third time (the frame is quite low) but this time I used a flashlight - and saw eyes, way back in a corner where I couldn't reach her. I don't know why she was there, except that it was very hot today; she probably was uncomfortable because she's very furry and maybe she thought it would be cooler there (it wasn't; she should have come downstairs and laid on the wood floor like the other cat). But there she was, and apparently she was fine so I left her there. This was at about 3:00.

Just now, at about 7:45, she sauntered into the living room and looked at me like, "What??"

...so I can “beep” them if I am looking for them and am unsuccessful. Many years ago, one of ours somehow managed to get out of the house without us knowing, and was picked off by a car. I was devastated. To this day, I can panic almost instantly if I can’t find one of them right quick like.

My tuxie female found a hiding place I would never have thought to check. We have a rather old beat up couch in our front room, and the batting on the bottom has come loose. She like to crawl up inside the couch for a nap. Without the TILE, I would never have known to look there.

So very sorry to hear about your recent loss. Cyber hug to you.

Can its signal be heard through wormholes?

It has given me peace of mind many times.

There are several different styles of this device. The style I currently use has a replaceable battery. It looks like a giant chiclet. They are extremely lightweight, and the cats take no notice of them. Several different sounds are available, so each cat his/her own melody.

They come in packs of 4. The 4th one is on my keys.

If I don't see Othello after a couple of hours. I'll go look for him. Sometimes he was in the room with me he had camouflaged himself. I check in with kitty every few hours because I adore him.

to the retirement home management because we thought he had escaped what with all the health care aides and med nurses coming and going. My brother had brought over his cat. She was out of her normal environment. We looked all over the building for an hour. Management helped too. The little girl cat was deep in my mom's closet, not feeling any need to come out. I din't know where exactly she was in the closet. She just decided to appear. I felt so embarrased for sounding the alarm.

I’m pretty sure most of us long time cat moms and dads have pushed the panic button more than once.

Thanksgiving 2018, our big male tabby hid for over 8 hours. His TILE battery had run out, so i couldn’t beep him. I looked the proverbial everywhere, to no avail. I was certain he had gotten out of the house, and was so upset I couldn’t even eat dinner.

After my second walk around the neighborhood, in the cold and dark, calling for a black-and-brown tabby (fat chance I would have seen him in the dark), I came back inside to find my younger son carrying him down the stairs, saying, “Well, well, well.” I was so relieved I cried.

The big stinker had gotten under that son’s platform bed, and gone all the way to the head board, where the view was blocked by a pullout storage drawer- . I had even looked there, but couldn’t see the spot he managed to get to.

as a teen. A 'drunk' came up to me on the pathway. He was between me and the house or was between me and the cat- i can't remember. I ran to puck up my cat then ran around the whole block. When i got back home with the cat, the 'drunk' was gone. I wondered where he came from. A few years later it turned out the ottawa police were dropping off 'drunks' in our separate and wealthier subburb. Not fair to the 'drunks' as there was little bus service and no way for them to get home but walk.

I also lso interrupted a cat fight once. My cat was getting old. A neighbours cat was fighting with him. I picked up mine. The other cat attacked my leg and lodged himself onto it. I pumped my leg back and kicked. That cat went flying.

Once a cat family, always a cat family.

they hear you calling their name too. They come out from wherever when they feel like it. I have been known to call them bad names while being relieved.

a cat tree from which she can survey her domain. She promised she wouldn't hide again and scare Mommy, but I don't believe her.

after a couple hours, I found her, right in plain site on top of a bunch of boxes, watching me look for her!

I think you have to be a little crazy to room with a cat (no one ever owns them), or they're a little crazy to want to room with us.

I haven't figured that one out yet, but I suspect it's probably me and not my buddy, Shadow:
