Most raccoons won't come back if they sense a dog is around. That being said, if you have a dog, don't let puppy outside. Raccoons will fight a dog.

Just let Mr./Ms Raccoon know that you have a dog from the inside of your place, and you might not see the raccoon again.

The raccoon isn't bothering me, really; I just thought it was odd to be stared at by one through a screened-in window.

It was the very first night in our new place. Mr. Raccoon just stared at us as 200am with our dog barking. For whatever reason, Mr. Raccoon has never come back since then.

Putting all things aside, I love animals. After three years of Trump, I now say animals are a better version of humans.

We have raccoons do the same. They like to watch us.

Unfortunately, hubby has his desk at that spot and enjoys seeing them and tries to get pics.

I would prefer that he chase them away.

I hear too many stories about raccoons and houses for my own good. My house has a fireplace and in South Texas, we have no need for it, so we closed the chimney off with a hinged flap. After living here for about 20 years, one night we heard, "bang, bang". The raccoons had figured out that they could open the flap. That was it: We sealed the flap.

Sometimes when I go in the backyard at night, I bring a couple of pans with me and bang them together, just to shoo them off.

I don’t know if it’s sharpening its teeth or what. It looks to weigh 75+ lbs.

Stay away from them. Scare them away. They can attack viciously.

We have a wraparound porch, and lots of windows. Our door along the side of the house is all glass.

We used to feed our cats outside on the porch. Then a raccoon started showing up.

It got brave enough to just stare at us through the door. That’s fine, but a bit awkward when we were having a dinner party with lots of guests.

We no longer feed the cats outside.
