I love it when dog and baby grow up together

I must say that I have a dog, but not a baby. If I had both, my dog would probably be smaller than my current DJ, but just as loving, IWH.

1. My wife just had to have a big dog so we wound up with a female Newfoundland who wasn't

too much trouble and was a hell of a watchdog. Our two older boys didn't interact with the dog much
but then our household changed when my wife's granddaughter came to live with us when the child was less than a year old.

As thew granddaughter grew I observed the interaction between dog and child and there was a little aggressiveness/leave me alone growling when the child tried to love on the dog. Finally I did a little intervention with the dog and introduced the child and dog formally, letting the dog know that this child was part of our family as much as the dog was. It worked. They became fast friends and often I would come home from work and observe the pair outside with the child using the dog as a living pillow and the dog just loving it.
