Hubby and I are having a dinner dance date in what used to be the den. Now, with no furniture and some rope light and speakers, it's our dance room. Miss my dancing community, but you do what you gotta do.

(2,430 posts)For the last 3 years, we had started a new tradition...in fact, the tradition usually takes place on this weekend. We rent a dance studio, throw together some food and champagne punch and invite all our friends and family to our annual dance. We hire a dance teacher--last year we hired 2 teachers and every year they teach a new dance. The first year it was the box foxtrot/waltz; the next year it was east coast swing; last year it was country polka. This year we were thinking we'd go with two-step or cha-cha. We had intended to keep this an annual event until we just couldn't do it anymore. I always thought it would be very old age or poor health that might make us halt the tradition, or at least hand it off to the next generation. But this year, it's Covid. Never dreamed that would happen.
But last night when we were dancing, we got our housemate to video some of the dances. I got the idea I could put the videos on my website and maybe invite our family and friends to make videos of themselves dancing and send them to me to join the others on the website...a virtual dance party? I had considered using Zoom, but the sound system wouldn't be good enough for dancing. But it might be fun to see other couples shakin' it down to a variety of music and dance. Maybe I could make that work. Thanks for reinforcing my notion of the possibility.
