The DU Lounge
Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsThe at-home Zoom t.v. shows, especially The View, are getting irritating!1
Whatever the multi-camera set-up is, Zoom? The four people on the screen, with the time lapse/gaps, at least two of them always starting to talk at the same time, then with the dead-air gaps, and then the i'm-sorries at the same time, repeat the dead-air, no-YOU-go-ahead!1
Our wonderful Lib pal Joy is particularly lagging on the uptake with the dead air. But the McCAIN person never shuts up, keeps talking over everybody else, plowing through.
It happens to a lesser extent with all the other shows, like the night comedians with guests.

(25,251 posts)We're dealing with problems we've never faced before in 100 years and I think we're dealing with it very admirably. Yeah - so there might be glitches and hiccups - but at least we're able to communicate and get the word out.
Would you rather have people maybe talking over each other or some air silence between an interchange of information or would you rather we not have that technology at all - and be forced to get information days late and through newspapers like in the 1918 pandemic.
We Americans have become so spoiled that we can't tolerate anything but perfection.
Come-on people. Deal with it.
This is kind of attitude we have with people that can't make the sacrifice of wearing a mask; not going to a restaurant; not being able to color their hair or get a haircut; not being able to go to a bar or the beach; etc.
In my opinion -we Americans have just become too spoiled.

I usually observe the principle that advice not be given unless it's asked for, except for this time here, haha!1

The world is on fire in so many ways at the moment. Lets refocus.
(Note: I count myself as guilty of this type of whining at times, and then I slap myself back into reality.)

(70,700 posts)trivial topics, where would it be?!1
Since there seems to be a call for this sub-topic, I might as well hop to it: All of us have gone through four months (and counting) of refocusing, not to mention four years of unforeseeable detestation of SHITLER, not to mention us old ones who have refocused over 2-3 wars, political atrocities and election losses, personal injustices, slapdowns, etc., etc. So am not even going to beg a by-your-leave to post a triviality on an internet board, with a venue named "Lounge" to boot!1
You sound kind of angry. I am all for triviality ... jokes, distractions, recipes, solitaire, bad tv, whatever gets our minds off things. I constantly seek such nerve-calming diversions.
What I was commenting on was the need to check ourselves when our gripes about trivial matters turn to whining. Complaining about our deprivations, such as the lack of studio tv (when not done in a joking way) becomes a manifestation of our mostly white privilege.
Where I live, a 20-month old baby was shot and killed the other day. The night before, 3 miles away, a 3-year-old was shot in the chest from a passing car. The same weekend a 10-year-old girl was fatally struck by a stray bullet while playing with her cousin inside her house, and an 8-year old was grazed in the head while sitting on the living room couch. The previous week, 5 other children were shot and killed in the city, including another 3-year old. So should I really be complaining that TV is not back to normal right now?
Add this to corona virus, job loss, economic hardship and the general apocalypse that surrounds us, and I think we need to think twice before we publicly voice our trivial complaints. Joking about them is fine. That was not the tenor of this thread at all.

For somebody so clueless, I wonder what I said in the post you are replying to?!1
I *amaze* myself with ALL that I embody!1 I've always said poetically that I Am the Universe, but now I see I *literally* am and have Believers, to boot!1
I will leave the road open for you to "win" with the internet's Last Word Wins. The "tenor of this thread" was its own thing, not what projections say it was.
