An android phone ?

My main working android phone is 3+yrs yes old. I use it a lot.
It now feels hot to touch on the top 1/4 of the unit. I am typing this on the back up from '17, that may catch a WiFi w/o phone #. It is connected to an unsecured Wi-Fi.
Tomorrow I'm thinking I'll need to go to the phone carrier & but another phone & a sim card for this unit.

I pulled the battery from the main phone, set it on an ice bag.

It is very warm here, 85+, does external heat cause phone problems as the phone ages?

You can keep your old sim and just pop it into the new phone.

But check the battery first. A hot phone sounds like battery problem.

Software glitches can cause that. Any new apps installed recently?

Shut it down to cool off. Power it on and see if it does it right away, or if it happens randomly after a period of time.

Can software in a well used phone heat up?

I have used the phone for the last 15 min & it is warm to touch at this minute

A good while back. I charge & switch out batteries as needed.
It seems unlikely that 3 batteries would fail with in the same 3 days, given that were purchased them over a , 6 month span of time and have different manufacturer dates.
