Curly hair help?

Younger Green kid’s hair is out of control with frizz and mats. (Seriously, we’re way past tangles here.) He’s looking for some leave-in products that help. Any other curly folk around to offer advice? Otherwise, I will reluctantly cut it for him.

My only experience with mats is in cats. Only painless solution is to cut them out. niyad Jul 2020 #1

If hair is still frizzy after drying, you can keep on applying until it's smooth and untangled. hedda_foil Jul 2020 #10

that she wouldn't let me touch. Not sure this is the answer for the OP, though.

His hair was never matted but, boy did he love his haircut when it was over!

He was a monster while at he vets, trying to bite them and even pooping on the table during his haircut, but when he got home, he would run around the house jumping and leaping like a spring lamb. He was so glad to have all that crap off of him!

Shea Moisture Coconut Hibiscus Curl Enhancing Smoothie.

You can get it on Amazon or at your local drug store or supermarket. It is often on a shelf with products marketed for people of color. A little goes a long way.

But if I don’t add oil to my hair each day, it’ll frizz.

I get my stuff from my hairdresser- both a cream that holds my curls and an oil that adds more moisture than just a conditioner.

You'll need to keep applying it as it sinks in, but it works wonders. Comes in a small bottle at the drugstore and you dispense it largish drops. If younger Green Kid is a girl, please work at it. My two girls' hair got like this long before these oils became popular. I let a hairdresser cut older daughter's long pigtails off because her hair was super-matted when she was 11. Bad idea! People thought she was a boy which made her feel humiliated. My younger daughter's hair was worse when she was little and I wound up having hers cut short but she was only 3 and her hair curled around her face, unlike her sister's.

I have thick wavy hair that can get out of control when long. I use this product that may be found at grocery stores, pharmacies and big box stores, as well as amazon:

https://www.amazon.com/Garnier-Fructis-Triple-Nutrition-Marvelous/dp/B01MDTWC48/ref=sr_1_1?dchild=1&keywords=Garnia+fructis+argan+oil&qid=1594150876&sr=8-1

Reasonable price, too. It makes my hair shiny and manageable, is not oily, and makes for a great detangler. I apply it to my wet hair after shampooing, then comb through.

Hope this helps!
