Didn't have Lennon's life-changing experience, but had a somewhat similar sail. empedocles Jul 2020 #2

Merely sailing from W. Palm Beach to Bimini, hit an unexpected 'turbulent' Gulfstream. From the bottom of the swells and wave, it looked like the view from the floor of the Pantheon in Rome, at the opening of the dome. Circular towering walls of water, with a small lighter gray circle at the top.

The mast of our 28' Soveral looked so small. Easily lost track of our 35' companion boat, that turned back. 5 hours of that. Then Bimini was calm. We felt after the Gulfstream we could handle anything, as we did for the rest of our couple of weeks touring private islands [uninvited, Nassau etc.]. Never would have volunteered for such turbulence, but so glad to have done it.

It was wonderful imagining John out there, on his own, conquering the elements.
