I discovered a new scrubbing tool to get stuff off the dishes and silverware ...

...Now, I have been washing dishes on and off for about 60 years. I helped my mom years ago, and went out on my own about 50 years ago. Yes, today I have a dish washing machine, but I fill the kitchen sink with water and soap, and wash the dishes by hand.. I don't know, I guess standing at the kitchen sink is a little bit of exercise, and I need all I can get..
...So when the dishes and silverware, get dirtied with peanut butter or anything else I always used a sponge or SOS steal pad on the dirtied dish or silverware. Mind you the kitchen sink is full of water, and it is sometime running, and I use the steal pad to get rid of the real dirty stuff. I have to keep them around, and can use them a few times..but they do work to get rid of the peanut butter and stuff on the dishes.

...So, today I discovered, through my utter brilliance, a new way to get rid of the peanut butter and stuff on the knives and forks and plates. Since the sink is partially full of water, and the knife has lots of peanut butter on it,...(I like peanut butter, & it is good for you)..I discovered a different way to get rid of the peanut butter on the knife...not using an SOS pad...and it's cheap, and more available than the SOS pad...

...Are you ready?...OK...here it is......I use my thumb to scrape off the peanut butter into the sink full of water, and then rinse the plate or silverware off with clean water after I dip the silverware, ..................or plate back into the water. No SOS pad......(I can use SOS pads only in the most difficult of cases, whatever they are)

...Yes, I can use the dishwasher machine, and other methods, but this reminds me of the old days, and yes, it gets the dishes and silverware spotless. Yes, I am retired, and have very little to do these days, so this is this, and that is that...(I thought I would give a small chuckle to those out there...keep in mind...it is very small)

Fill it with water and dish soap. Let sit for an hour or so. Makes a big difference.

Gave it a try. It works. Especially for things like meatloaf and chili.

I think it has to do with the animal/meat element in them.

this a shot, sounds weird enough to actually work. It's amazing that so many helpful tips come out of FB, YouTube, other such places and what's nice about it, a lot of these tips actually do work and do save time and energy. Thanks again so much for responding back, and be safe and careful out there! I do occasionally burn the periodic pan/dish and do have to scrub and scrub, and I'd prefer not to, if I can avoid it! Of course the best thing is to not burn anything, but with my cooking, that's a lost cause (ha ha!).

dishes and pans, and then run though the dishwasher. My back hurts too much to stand in front of the kitchen sink for any length of time, otherwise, I would do your suggestion. There are two types of SOS pads too, the plastic ones and the metal ones. I used to use, but I found that they were a little scratchy and prone to rusting (the metal sos pads).

I can't resist licking the knife clean after using.

Of course, I wash it after, but there is no peanut butter on it, at all, none.

or dishtowel then pop it in the dishwasher

The worst things to remove are egg, peanut butter and cold cereal that has dried on the dish.

I line pans with foil for many things and thus avoid scrubbing

(Scotch Brite, I think) Won't scratch and cheap. I even keep a "special" one in a soap dish that I use on vegetables.
